Anadarko’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Mozambique, also called AMA1, will result in the construction of an LNG facility in the far northern coastal region of Mozambique. This project will generate foreign direct investment in the Mozambican economy of over $20 billion during an estimated four-year construction phase. Since 2011, PYXERA Global has been providing local content development support to this project through its Supplier Development Program, a training and advisory service package designed to improve the ability of local enterprises to meet multinational company procurement and contracting standards.

Initially, PYXERA Global conducted a capabilities assessment to understand the demand for goods and services, the capability of Mozambican companies to meet this demand, and to provide recommendations to bridge the gap between local company capabilities and industry requirements.

PYXERA Global is now laying the foundation for in-depth enterprise development services designed to ensure Mozambican companies have the opportunity to supply goods and services during the construction phase. This “Phase 1” is designed to lay the groundwork for success throughout construction and ultimately into the operations phase for the LNG plant.

The Supplier Development Program has identified and conducted due diligence on local companies active in relevant sectors and created a dynamic and robust database of potential suppliers for the construction of the LNG plant. To date, PYXERA Global has over 200 suppliers registered in its supplier database, as well as 22 local business providers that can assist and train suppliers.

Anadarko is extraordinarily committed to developing tools and approaches that will enable it to generate contracts and procurement opportunities for Mozambican companies and employment opportunities for the country’s citizens. Future project objectives through PYXERA Global include supplier awareness events, high potential supplier trainings through linkages with local business service providers, dissemination of procurement opportunities, orientation of new suppliers, and community-based business trainings.
