Job Description

The Business Development Manager is a mid-level position that performs increasingly complex business development work to ensure that Pyxera Global is identifying and pursuing opportunities that are advantageous to the organization. Responsibilities include pipeline development, opportunity management, and supporting business development strategy development and implementation.

The Business Development Manager works cross-departmentally to ensure the capture of qualified inbound and outbound opportunities and the development and delivery of competitive proposals, participates in preparatory efforts for proposals, develops partnerships and client relationships, tracks procurement opportunities, and provides pre-proposal intelligence gathering.

The Business Development Manager also supports the development and implementation of Pyxera Global’s business development strategy and business development operations (e.g., capacity building, training, and coaching, systems and processes).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of the equivalent in education and/or experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business development and sales; including marketing and communications
  • Advanced proposal writing experience on proposals for USG, multinational corporations, and bilateral
  • Excellent skills in writing, editing, formatting, research, and communications
  • Excellent meeting facilitation skills and organizational skills
  • Considerable knowledge of the corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and global development sectors
  • Knowledge and experience with Salesforce CRM
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge of Asana, Canva, and collaboration tools like Miro and Lucidspark are preferred, but not required.
  • Able to travel internationally and/or domestically up to 10% of the time.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates as a leading role in managing the Opportunity Management Team from solicitation release through submission and after-action reviews, under the oversight of the Director of Business Development
  • Works cross-departmentally to develop technical and cost proposals that are compliant and adhere to the opportunity management process
  • Enforces adherence to the opportunity management process and all key milestones and deadlines
  • Leads design sessions that result in agreed upon program designs responsive to solicitations
  • Works cross-departmentally to formalize agreements with partner and resource organizations
  • Reviews technical and cost proposals, including annexes; conducts re-writes and substantial technical editing, as required
  • Holds regular check-in meetings with opportunity management teams to ensure adherence to schedule, checks quality and compliance of response, surface potential problems early
  • Helps manage opportunity review meetings; assembles relevant documents for the reviews
  • Ensures overall proposal responsiveness to, and compliance with, the solicitation or client request
  • Identifies and shares market trends in relevant thematic areas and elevates those trends in strategy discussions
  • Contributes to and owns assigned components of the business development strategy, including lead generation, pipeline development, and marketing and communications
  • Contributes to and owns assigned components of business development operations
  • Represents Pyxera Global at industry meetings and events as needed
  • Successful leadership of assigned proposal development projects, ensuring the integrity of implementation of Pyxera Global’s opportunity management process
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge, skills and abilities opportunity management and skill in applying lessons learned from prior opportunities
  • Provide dynamic representation of business development across the organization (US and Country Offices); develop desired synergies and alliances when working on opportunities and strategy development and operations
