How might food banks and their networks reduce their environmental footprint while increasing service delivery to serve food insecure communities?
Food banking plays a critical role in strengthening food systems at the community level, especially where food loss is high and social protections are weak. Your company will have the opportunity to support key players in the fight for food security by partnering with PIMCO and The Global FoodBanking Network in a multi-company Reimagine Series Challenge.
In the Challenge, cross-corporate teams of employees will come together to contribute in a powerful way to the “greening” of food banks—to drive innovation by offering strategies to assess their current environmental impact and identify energy efficient solutions that support operational efficiency, create new delivery modalities, and integrate new technologies.

WEBINAR
During a one-hour webinar hosted by PYXERA Global and in conversation with PIMCO and The Global FoodBanking Network, learn how global trends in food banking, coupled with climate change, have emerged in the shadows of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“At PIMCO, one issue that has long driven our purpose is the global goal of zero hunger. We know that by reducing hunger we have the opportunity to create positive social and economic change. We understand it takes collective contribution to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges. Through this initiative, and alongside like-minded partners, we are hoping to engage the best and brightest at PIMCO and beyond to help GFN build its capacity, expand its services and ultimately get food into the hands of those most vulnerable.”
— NATE BROWN
Senior Vice President, Director PIMCO Foundation
“Partnering to support GFN will benefit millions of people around the globe facing hunger, while also lessening the world’s carbon footprint. Food banks play a vital role in addressing hunger, food insecurity, and nutrition in communities around the world. They take a local approach by recovering and redirecting wholesome edible surplus food. By mitigating and repurposing food waste, food banks also reduce the environmental impacts of greenhouse gas emissions that would have been emitted from landfills. GFN is at the helm, enabling 800+ member food banks around the world to become more efficient, more effective and is best positioned to have impact at scale.”
