POSITION TITLE: Program Intern

SUMMARY: 

PYXERA Global seeks a highly motivated candidate to work 20-40 hours per week as an intern at our headquarters in Washington, DC. The Program Intern will work with PYXERA Global’s Enterprise and Community Development (ECD) Division, which collaborates with diverse partners to build resilient business and entrepreneurial ecosystems through community driven solutions. S/he will provide support for multiple programs, including Integrated Community Development programs in India and Nigeria. This is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to gain exposure to several different programs and work at an international NGO with a focus on global engagement.   The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced office environment, especially in a programmatic or administrative capacity. The intern must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and have strong data management and quantitative reasoning skills. Candidates with additional research experience and strong written communication skills are also desirable.  

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Program Intern will be responsible for supporting the implementation of PYXERA Global’s programs with oversight from Program Coordinators. Key responsibilities and level of effort include:

Analysis and Reporting – 40% 
  • Monitor database management efforts, compile and verify historical program data  
  • Create visuals with Excel and other data visualization platforms  
  • Edit seasonal and annual reports for various programs 
  • Conduct relevant contextual research as needed  
Finance – 30%  
  • Prepare and process relevant accounting forms such as invoices, wire transfer requests, expense reimbursements, and complete credit card reconciliations in a timely manner 
  • Prepare and process relevant procurement documents including selection memos, contracts, modifications, and purchase orders 
Business Development – 10% 
  • Conduct research, both technical and financial, for business development opportunities in various regions and practice areas 
  • Assist with proposal review and delivery 
  • Support overall business development processes 
 Communications – 10% 
  • Liaise with field staff and Program Coordinators to develop case studies and success stories, as well as support department and program social media presence 
  • Monitor and update program pages on the PYXERA Global website 
Miscellaneous – 10% 
  • Develop and maintain document management systems and Salesforce dashboards

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Pursuing or holds a Bachelor’s degree, or pursuing a Master’s degree in international relations, economic development, business, or related field 
  • Six months to two years of professional or international development experience

PYXERA Global is seeking a Director of Information and Communications Technology (“ICT”) who can work to support the organization in meeting its mission through the utilization of available technologies. The Director of ICT will be responsible for managing PYXERA Global’s ICT needs, including responsibility for the Office 365-based knowledge portal management, growth and staff training; the supervision of its Managed Service Provider and other vendors; and coordination with the Executive Team to ensure alignment of ICT strategy with the organization’s overall long-term strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Prepare strategic and operational plans for the Information Communications Technology (ICT) department to ensure that all necessary ICT tools, processes and systems are in place to meet the requirements of the business and contribute to the achievement of short- and long-term goals of the Company.
  • Manage SharePoint development, utilization and improvement.
  • Manage and provide oversight for the implementation of an ICT security strategy and disaster recovery plan that minimizes the risk of data loss and breach of privacy of the Corporation’s information and that of its Prime Contractor and other managing agents.
  • Ensure development, implementation and maintenance of all policies related to ICT services, including equipment/license distribution and asset management.

PYXERA GLOBAL (www.PYXERAGlobal.org), an NGO based in Washington, DC, will manage an international corporate volunteer consulting project in Detroit, scheduled for April 27 – May 18, 2019. PYXERA Global seeks a local consultant currently residing in Detroit to help provide project management and logistical support to the team of 16 corporate volunteers matched to skills-based consulting projects that build the organizational capacity of four local non-profit organizations. This is a paid position and rates are based on past salary history along with current market rates. PYXERA Global is looking for a consultant with excellent knowledge of Detroit and with project experience and a professional network related to community development, urban revitalization, workforce readiness, financial capability, and related economic development sectors. The selected consultant’s main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following.

PYXERA Global, an NGO based in Washington, DC will be managing an international corporate volunteer program in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, scheduled to take place in May of 2019. PYXERA Global would like to hire a consultant currently residing in Belo Horizonte to help with program design and provide project and logistical support to the selected team of corporate volunteers from December 2018 through May 2019. The selected consultant’s main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

ACTIVITIES

  • Assist with identification and selection of host clients (mostly NGOs and social enterprises) and develop scopes of work (SOWs) reflecting the specific areas of intervention that the organizations solicit
  • Facilitate meetings with potential host clients in English as needed during PYXERA Global staff scoping trip
  • Participate in conference calls in English with corporate volunteers
  • Coordinate the Welcome and Final Event(s) for volunteer groups and participating host clients
  • Assist in procuring accommodations and transportation for volunteers in Belo Horizonte as needed on arrival and for the duration of their stay
  • Orient new corporate volunteers upon arrival in Belo Horizonte
  • Recruit and manage interpreters assigned to support volunteers
  • Manage assignment, work, and travel logistics for volunteers while they are in Belo Horizonte
  • Act as the on-the-ground interface between PYXERA Global and local partners in Belo Horizonte
  • Act as a logistical and informational resource for volunteers and troubleshoot on problems they may face
  • Correspond with PYXERA Global headquarters program staff and other stakeholders to assure satisfaction on the part of the volunteers and our partners
  • Monitor and advise on security arrangements for volunteers when they are in Belo Horizonte
  • Participate in the regular evening meetings with corporate volunteers
  • Prepare financial and final program reports

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate degree in international relations, communications, project management, organizational development, NGO management, or related field
  • Experience in project management and in leading multicultural groups
  • Experience in youth empowerment, education, and social entrepreneurship
  • Currently residing in Belo Horizonte, Brazil

PYXERA Global would like to hire a part-time consultant currently residing in Singapore to help with program design and provide project and logistical support to a selected team of corporate volunteers who will provide pro-bono consulting services to local non-profits and social enterprises. The selected consultant’s main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

ACTIVITIES

  • Review and validate PYXERA Global list of potential social organizations in Singapore and identify new ones that could be contacted during the outreach phase;
  • Participate in scoping trip meetings week with selected organizations in January 2019;
  • Complete the scoping trip scorecard, and select with PYXERA Global social organizations to participate in the pro-bono engagements in February/March 2019;
  • Match assigned pro-bono consultants to projects;
  • Co-lead with PYXERA Global staff three preparation conference calls with group of pro-bono consultants;
  • Be the principal PYXERA Global contact with stakeholders throughout project preparation and implementation;
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Welcome and Final Workshops for pro-bono consultants and participating social organizations in April 2019, respectively;
  • Correspond with PYXERA Global headquarters program staff and other stakeholders to assure satisfaction on the part of the pro-bono consultants and social organization partners;
  • Capture and share success stories and lessons learned that strengthen PYXERA Global’s existing and planned programs with organizations, partners, and stakeholders through social media and other avenues as appropriate;
  • Prepare financial and final program reports.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be based in Singapore
  • College degree in international relations, communications, project management, organizational development, NGO management, or related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of work experience
  • Experience working with consulting teams and/or skills-based volunteer programs
  • Experience in workshop facilitation and project management
  • Have a solid network of local NGO partners
  • Ability to multi-task and manage diverse tasks simultaneously
  • Flexible and able to work in a team as well as individually with limited supervision.
