JOB SUMMARY

PYXERA Global is seeking an experienced international development professional to provide technical leadership and programmatic management of engagements focused on enterprise/value chain development, integrated community development, and post-harvest loss in some of the world’s most challenging contexts. PYXERA Global’s efforts in this space strive to deliver solutions that address the needs of communities in emerging markets in a culturally-appropriate, market-oriented, and scalable manner. The position will provide Washington DC-based oversight of donor-funded and private sector-backed programs globally while supporting PYXERA Global’s Enterprise and Community Development practice more broadly.

The Director will be expected to develop and introduce methodologies for implementation, take the lead on business development initiatives, and represent PYXERA Global in various internal and external events. The ideal candidate will have expertise in project management, along with experience facilitating strategy and partnership development, technical assistance, capacity building, and training to both practitioners and organizations, and in conducting assessments, strategic analysis, and providing advisory services in the areas of community, private sector, and enterprise development. Strong writing and representational skills, combined with ability to lead innovation and drive opportunities, are a must for this position.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical leadership around agricultural and/or enterprise value chain development, post-harvest loss interventions, public-private partnerships, and market-based agricultural development.
  • Provide technical leadership in design, development, planning, implementation; and capacity-building of specific technical components of various programs in the enterprise and community development sector.
  • Provide home-office operational oversight of donor-funded projects focused on integrated community development.
  • Directly supervise DC-based staff with a particular emphasis on mentoring junior members of the PYXERA Global team

JOB SUMMARY

The Database Administrator will manage PYXERA Global’s database, implemented on the Salesforce.com platform. The database is used for business development, CRM and project management. He/she will act as a system manager, administering a Governance framework, facilitating user experience, implementing best practices and training staff to use the system. This position will be a resource for staff, troubleshooting any arising issues, answering questions, running reports per data requests and making updates to the system. The Administrator will also carry out monthly data audits, to check that program staff makes required data inputs, and also ensure that the data is clean and de-duplicated.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Salesforce database administration for 40+ users;
  • Performing database maintenance and improvements;
  • Conducting training and developing/updating reference materials (such as how-to guides), and documentation (best practices/SOPs) on Salesforce use for new and current database users;
  • Informing users on new and existing features, providing Salesforce user tips for the Learning and Partnerships newsletter, and developing innovative ways to encourage and maintain adoption;
  • Serving as a support and go-to expert in house on any Salesforce-related issues;
  • Developing processes to monitor data quality and integrity: conducting data audits, requiring timely and quality inputs from program staff into the system, as well as performing data de-duping/cleaning
  • Creating custom objects, mapping, reports, dashboards, workflows, and other things as required by users;

  • Engaging with outside consultants to create customizations to or integrations with the database as needed;
  • Attending annual conferences or admin group events/seminars sponsored by Salesforce to remain up-to-date on their system and accompanying applications;

JOB SUMMARY

PYXERA Global’s Enterprise and Community Development (ECD) Division catalyzes partnerships to achieve sustainable economic growth of local enterprises and communities. PYXERA Global is seeking a Program Associate with experience working on sustainable international development initiatives. The Program Associate will provide administrative and programmatic support for diverse programs in Mozambique, Ghana, India, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria.  The position will provide the Program Associate with the opportunity to build their program management skills through exposure to a variety of program and business development activities.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Program Associate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of PYXERA Global’s programs with oversight from the Program Manager. Key responsibilities and level of effort include:

Finance – 35%

  • Prepare and process relevant accounting forms such as invoices, wire transfer requests, expense reimbursements, and complete credit card reconciliations in a timely manner;
  • Initiate and coordinate submissions of procurement documentation such as selection memos, contracts, modifications, and purchase orders;
  • Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring monthly financial reports;

 

Analysis and Reporting – 25%

  • Track progress of key program and departmental indicators, and monitor database management efforts;

JOB SUMMARY

PYXERA Global, a Washington, D.C. based nonprofit organization, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Regional Technical Advisor, Agriculture & Post-harvest Loss. PYXERA Global is currently implementing agriculture development programs in South Asia and West Africa, and is actively exploring additional programming in other countries. The Post-Harvest Loss and Agribusiness Lead will provide programmatic, strategic, and business development support to the organization’s expansion efforts, as well as leadership and technical expertise to existing programs.

The Post-Harvest Loss and Agribusiness Lead will begin by focusing on the first-year operations of the Rockefeller Foundation-funded Nigeria YieldWise Program, which seeks to reduce post-harvest loss along the tomato value chain in Nigeria by facilitating secondary market linkages for smallholder farmers and improving handling and transit practices. PYXERA Global seeks to build upon this program and develop and document best practices for dissemination and implementation elsewhere. The Post-Harvest Loss and Agribusiness Lead will play an instrumental role in improving operational effectiveness and impact, and developing the organization’s overall portfolio in the region.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management Support to YieldWise

  • Liaise with program funder and key partners to ensure seamless communication.
  • Provide direct management oversight to field teams to ensure quality implementation and delivery against project milestones and targets.
  • Provide technical expertise/analysis to various assessments, studies and initiatives, and backstopping support in the creation/improvement of project tools, systems, processes, and databases.
  • Support project teams in the development of project work plans, expansion strategies, and other program materials.
  • Participate in project and departmental meetings and working groups to ensure regular knowledge-sharing and collaboration across projects.
  • Identify opportunities for capacity building and professional development of HQ and field project staff to improve program design and implementation.

Strategy & Business Development

  • Compile and analyze data on other agriculture development efforts, specific value chain initiatives, and post-harvest loss reduction practices in the region to inform improved implementation and strategy development at the individual program and regional levels.
  • Support the development PYXERA Global’s post-harvest loss portfolio by identifying opportunities for existing program expansion, and funding sources and potential partners for future programming in the region.
  • Provide business development support to HQ through proposal writing and donor contacts, in-country partner relations, and external communication of organization’s initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with organizations and institutions dealing with post-harvest loss in the region.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in agriculture/agribusiness, international development, or related field of study.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in international agriculture development either as a technical advisor or project director; experience working in Africa required; experience in Nigeria desirable.
  • Technical competency in market-based solutions to post-harvest loss.
  • Strong understanding of access to market, finance, infrastructure, and on-farm technology challenges for smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Experience in program design/management, program quality and performance assessments.
  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment and the capacity to think and plan strategically.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and a demonstrated capacity for engaging the private sector in community-based programming, facilitating dialogue among various stakeholders, and managing cross-sector partnerships.

JOB SUMMARY

PYXERA Global, an NGO based in Washington, DC  will be managing a Global Pro Bono program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, scheduled to take place in February 2017. PYXERA Global would like to hire a part time consultant currently residing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to help with program management and provide project and logistical support to the selected team of corporate employees from February through March 2017. Possibility of extension based on additional corporate programs.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and select potential clients and develop Scopes of Work for the program that are aligned with specific areas of intervention identified by PYXERA Global and/or our client(s)
  • Manage day-to-day program and operations with limited supervision so that they are on time, on budget, meet stakeholder needs and deliverable targets, and are responsive to client and stakeholder needs.
  • Capture and share success stories and lessons learned that strengthen PYXERA Global’s existing and planned programs with organizations, partners, and stakeholders through social media and other avenues as appropriate.
  • Orient new program participants upon arrival in Ethiopia;
  • Serve as logistics coordinator and as an informational resource for Volunteers and troubleshoot problems they may face;
  • Participate in weekly preparation phone calls with corporate team(s) as needed;

This is a part time consultant position with an estimate timeline of 4-5 months.  Pay is based on past experience and the type of work required for this position.
