JOB SUMMARY

PYXERA Global is seeking an attentive, organized, and motivated Communications and Marketing Intern to work 40 hours per week in our Washington, DC office. This intern will gain experience in design, marketing, and global programming alongside the personable and knowledgeable Public Affairs & Programs teams. The intern will support in the development of communications materials and multimedia products that are attractive, consistent, well written, and propel interest and action. The opportunity will build his or her marketing and communications skills through hands on experience with many different areas of the organization. The ideal candidate is a media and digital enthusiast, with exceptional writing and design skills, a strong interest and background in impact communications, and demonstrated curiosity and/or experience in international affairs.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Support in the development and design of digital, web, and print marketing materials;
  • Presentation and report development and design, including Prezi and PowerPoint;
  • Copywriting and editing, including developing original content under direction and editing from multiple contributors;
  • Utilizing online metrics tools (such as Google Analytics) to report on statistics for websites, social media sites, email campaigns, and online advertising;

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Logistics Assistant provides logistical support for project-related activities in the Global Pro Bono Department. This position requires a strong focus on travel arrangements, logistics, financial reporting, and country and topic-specific research. This position is a one-year contract position with option to renew. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask, take initiative in completing assignments as well as provide high quality logistical support with little oversight. Priority skills include strong attention to detail, ability to communicate clearly (oral and written), process oriented, ability to organize logistics, time management, and writing, all combined with the ability to be flexible.

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Logistics Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of PYXERA Global’s Global Pro Bono practice area programming. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Make travel arrangements and coordinate program logistics in collaboration with Program Managers.
  • Conduct budget and country research for developing briefing materials for potential new programs and business opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate program records in relevant databases and formats (i.e. Excel, Salesforce, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Create up-to-date location-specific briefing guides and assist in drafting elements of program work plans and required reports (program and financial),
  • Prepare and process relevant accounting forms, assist in preparing budgets, and monitoring financial reports.
  • Process participant and local partner survey data, and synthesize this information into client-facing reports.
  • Develop and maintain tools to track reporting and program requirements.

The office manager position is responsible for overall front office activities, including the reception area, mail, large purchasing requests and facilities. Also responsible for directing and coordinating office services and related activities, including developing and supervising activities for the maximum utilization of services and equipment. Responsible for arranging internal office moves and providing arrangements for office meetings.

ACTIVITIES

The Accounting Assistant Intern will be supporting the Accounting Department on various activities. This position is ideal for someone who has large open blocks in their schedule, or someone who has recently graduated and is looking to gain Accounting experience. This position has the potential to turn into a full-time position depending on performance and needs of the organization. Duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist with Accounts Payable.
  • Assist with the annual audit.
  • Assist with verification and reconciliation of expense reports.
  • Maintain vendor, program and consultant files.
  • Perform monthly credit card reconciliation.

The Country Director has the overall responsibility for the strategic leadership and direction of PYXERA Global in India to achieve the organizational vision, mission and objectives. The CD is responsible for the programmatic and operational management in India. S/he represents PYXERA Global India with government, local and international organisations and all private sector, corporate companies in India. S/he will take a leading role in developing, overseeing implementation, reviewing and monitoring of the Country strategy and ensuring the same in line with PYXERA Global strategic directions, Mission, Vision and objectives. The CD is responsible for developing new programming initiatives, new partnerships and maintaining existing partnerships and actively monitoring key phases of ongoing programs, monitoring and working with Business Development to bring in new clients and grow PYXERA Global’s client base in India. The CD will be responsible to ensure cross learning and fertilisation of knowledge across the employees. S/he is responsible for overall financial, administrative and human resources management of PYXERA Global entities in India.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development and Implementation
      • Provide Leadership in the development and implementation of the PYXERA Global India strategy in line with the overall PYXERA Global Strategic Plan and the context in India
      • Facilitate the alignment of PYXERA Global India to strategic organisational thematic priorities and accountability mechanisms
      • Provide leadership for the dissemination of PYXERA Global values, vision and mission at the country level and lead, direct and mentor the country staff in line with the organizational strategy

    • Innovative Program development and management of any new models of programs suited to the Indian corporate environment

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Communications Specialist will implement the development and design of print, digital and web projects from the Shanghai office. Duties include, but may not limited to, the following:

  • Produce printed and digital materials in support of the operational needs, including translation and adaption of the webpages, marketing collateral, project information such as PPT presentations, publications, one-pagers and other relevant products;
  • Develop and publish online multi-channel campaigns and social media content for organizational initiatives, publications and programs in China;
  • Promote PYXERA Global programmatic initiatives and practice areas and support business development in China;
  • Liaise with external media and press and coordinate the successful management of contracts with relevant communications service providers.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in communications, media relations or related field;
  • Good grasp of social media management and campaign development;
  • Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills in Chinese;
  • Able to communicate fluently in English;
  • A good understanding of corporate social responsibilities, relevant experience highly desired;
  • Adept design (print & web) proficiency preferred;
  • Strong network within news media in China preferred;
  • Prior experience in marketing a plus;

Responsibilities:

Key duties of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Advisor include:

  • Creating and revising data collection tools and procedures (logframe, program performance tracking against targets, indicators, data flow charts, etc.).
  • Ensuring accurate data collection and up-to-date program database.
  • Building capacity of program team, including local partners, on data management tools, procedures, and analysis.

Responsibilities:

Key duties of the Finance, Compliance, and Administration Director include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day program cash flow management and maintenance of bank accounts.
  • Reviewing and tracking all project payments to ensure accuracy and proper coding of invoices, including office petty cash management and staff reimbursements.
  • Ensuring proper and complete financial record-keeping (receipts, contracts, backups).
  • Performing monthly reconciliation of the general ledger accounts.
  • Managing procurement, upkeep, and tracking of project assets, including proper documentation of the procurement process through Requisition Forms, Selection Memos, and Purchase Orders.
  • Coordinating with local partner organizations, legal counsel, government officials, and USAID staff to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities: 

The Chief of Party will be the senior member of the Uganda ICAN program field staff. The COP’s primary responsibility will be ensuring successful implementation of the Uganda ICAN work plan and achievement of the program’s targets and goals. Key duties include:  

  • Providing the strategic vision and overall technical, administrative, and financial leadership to produce required results for the Uganda ICAN program. 
  • Supervising field operations, project administration, logistics, and procurement. 
  • Providing leadership to the project team to effectively collaborate on the design and implementation of the ICAN program. 
  • Acting as the primary contact with USAID mission, ensuring compliance with USAID program standards, and collaborating with mission partners to direct an efficient use of resources.

  • At least five (5) years of management experience including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multi-faceted international development programs.

  • Identifying programmatic challenges, bottlenecks, and any obstacles to implementation, and informing and troubleshooting solutions with the COP. 
  • Supervising administrative and financial activities to ensure compliance with USAID requirements.  
  • Developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, especially with the USAID mission and the Government of Uganda, to facilitate efficient coordination of resources and a community-driven approach. 

 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • A Master’s degree in international development, agriculture, economics, public health, nutrition, or related field of study or equivalent work experience. 
  • Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible work experience in managing or implementing development programs, preferably in Africa.  
  • Expertise working on sustainable and resilient agriculture, nutrition, behavior change, and/or community health donor- funded programs (USAID, DFID and others) 
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, proven capacity to lead large implementation teams on complex, multi-year programs. 
  • Fluency in English. 
  • Preference given to candidates who have experience working in Uganda.
