Washington D.C. - HQ Positions

PYXERA Global (www.PYXERAGlobal.org), an NGO based in Washington, DC, will manage an international corporate volunteer consulting project in Washington, D.C., scheduled for October 26-November 16, 2019. PYXERA Global seeks a local consultant currently residing in Washington, D.C. to help provide project management and logistical support to the team of 16 corporate volunteers matched to skills-based consulting projects that build the organizational capacity of four local non-profit organizations. This is a paid position and rates are based on past salary history along with current market rates.
PYXERA Global is looking for a consultant with excellent knowledge of Washington, D.C. and with project experience and a professional network related to community development, urban revitalization, workforce readiness, financial capability, and related economic development sectors.
The selected consultant’s main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION 

  • Help to develop scopes of work (SOWs) reflecting the specific areas of intervention requested by local host organizations (mostly nonprofits and community development social enterprises)

ACTIVITIES

The Accounting Assistant Intern will be supporting the Accounting Department on various activities. This position is ideal for someone who has large open blocks in their schedule and is looking to gain Accounting experience. Duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist with monthly closing duties

This paid position offers interns the opportunity to work with the Public Affairs and Communications team of an international NGO focused on global engagement and corporate responsibility.

At PYXERA Global, design matters—and we view photography as essential for the marketing and overall branding of our organization. The ideal candidate has a passion for and experience in taking, editing, organizing, and curating photographs. The intern must be detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, and self-motivated.

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern will be responsible for assisting in photography related activities—including editing, organizing, tagging, archiving, curating, and shooting photos, as well as conducting research in close collaboration with the Public Affairs team, Data Systems Administrator, and ICT team. PYXERA Global is seeking an experienced professional for a Program Manager position in its Enterprise and Community Development practice area focusing on agricultural development. This position requires a minimum of five years of experience in agricultural and/or community development program design and management, as well as experience in monitoring and evaluation of complex programs. KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of PYXERA Global’s international programs and participates in business development globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the program team to drive and deliver the strategic vision of the program(s), in alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Proactively manage farmer, agribusiness and community development program(s) so they are: on time, on budget, in compliance with the law, meet or exceed deliverables, and responsive to client and stakeholder needs.

Required:

  • US Citizen or Permanent US employment authorization required.

  • Field experience and in-depth knowledge of rural livelihoods, agriculture (including agricultural best practices, engaging agripreneurs, post-harvest loss, agricultural value chains, and climate-smart agriculture), and community development.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator will support the monitoring, evaluation, analytical, and knowledge management needs of our growing Global Pro Bono division to ensure quality and effectiveness of program implementation. On-the-job training will be provided, and opportunities for professional development and learning are available.

As Such the Coordinator will:
  • Provide assistance to program staff to develop performance monitoring plans and results frameworks during program design and implementation;
  • Create monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems, processes, and tools;
  • Contribute to measuring, analyzing, and reporting results; and
  • Support the staff in project management and budgeting of deliverables.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting staff members in setting up logical frameworks and stakeholder assessments

The program is scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 18, and PYXERA Global is seeking junior professional project assistants currently residing in Antigua to provide interpretation/program support services for the team of corporate volunteers staying in Antigua.

The selected project assistant(s) main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

ROLES OF THE PROJECT ASSISTANT

• Project assistants will be available to participants while they are in Antigua during regular working hours (i.e. 8 hours per day), Monday-Friday.
• Project assistants will be able to provide sequential interpretation or written translation (both ways; ENG-SPA-ENG).

PYXERA Global would like to hire a part-time local consultant currently residing in Addis Ababa to provide project management and logistical support to the selected team of corporate employees who will provide pro-bono consulting services to local non-profits and social enterprises.

The selected consultant’s main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION

  • Identify and select potential clients and help to develop scopes of work (SOWs) reflecting the specific areas of intervention requested by local host organizations (mostly nonprofits, community development social enterprises, and government entities)
  • Support local host organizations in preparing for arrival of corporate volunteers, ensuring stakeholder meetings are arranged
  • Participate in conference calls with corporate volunteers in advance of their arrival in Addis Ababa
  • Support corporate volunteers, providing advice and guidance around scope of work delivery
  • Act as the on-the-ground interface between PYXERA Global and partners in Addis Ababa, including regular correspondence with PYXERA Global HQ staff and other stakeholders to assure satisfaction on the part of the volunteers and partners
  • Participate in meetings with corporate volunteers, as requested
  • Prepare financial and final program reports

LOGISTICS

  • Assist in procuring accommodations and transportation in Addis Ababa • Coordinate the kick-off and closing event(s) for volunteer groups and host organizations
  • Prepare Addis Ababa-related guides and suggestions for team orientation packets
  • Orient new corporate volunteers upon arrival in Addis Ababa
  • Manage assignment, work, and project travel logistics for volunteers while they are in Addis Ababa
  • Act as a logistical and informational resource for volunteers and troubleshoot challenges they may face
  • Monitor and advise on security arrangements for volunteers when they are in Addis Ababa

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Must be based in Addis Ababa with in-depth area familiarity
  • College degree in communications, project management, organizational development, NGO management, or related field
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience
  • Experience working with cross-cultural teams and/or skills-based volunteer programs
  • Ability to multi-task and manage diverse tasks simultaneously
  • Flexible and able to work in a team as well as individually with limited supervision
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to develop scopes of work with limited supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in virtual and in-person presentation skills

 

SALARY

This is a part-time consultant position with an estimate timeline of 4 -5 months. Pay is based on past experience and the type of work required for this position.

PYXERA Global seeks a local consultant currently residing in the Bay Area to help provide project management and logistical support to the team of 16 corporate volunteers matched to skills-based consulting projects that build the organizational capacity of four local non-profit organizations. This is a paid position and rates are based on past salary history along with current market rates.

PYXERA Global is looking for a consultant with excellent knowledge of the Bay Area and with project experience and a professional network related to community development, urban revitalization, workforce readiness, financial capability, and related economic development sectors.

  • At least five years of experience with project management and experience in leading multicultural groups.
  • Currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area with in-depth area familiarity.
  • Detailed and people-oriented.
  • Experience with fielding and supporting volunteer projects.
  • Exposure and experience in non-profit and economic development sector
    Intermittent availability from June – August 2019; continued availability throughout September 2019, especially September 7 – 28.
