For decades, we’ve solved challenging problems by bringing unconventional partners to the table.
Pyxera Global began in 1990 as the Citizens Democracy Corps. Formed at the behest of the White House after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Citizens Democracy Corps mobilized private-sector expertise and resources to assist in building democratic institutions and free-market economies in Eastern Europe.
We brought together U.S. corporations, nonprofit organizations, and governments to coordinate pro-bono efforts, recruit volunteers, and provide on-site assistance for small and medium businesses.
Our goal was to strengthen the foundations of free society in Eastern Europe.
The challenges we faced didn’t stop at national borders, and in 2002, our partners asked us to help them complete projects in other parts of the world. Since then, we have worked with Fortune 500 corporations, large and small governments, and thousands of social mission organizations in more than 90 countries. We have grown from a volunteer clearinghouse facilitating one-time projects, to a sophisticated organization adapting proven solutions to diverse regions and markets. In 2013, we adopted the name Pyxera Global, derived from pyxis (Latin for Mariner’s Compass) and terra (Latin for Earth) to better reflect our growing mission.
As we near our 35th anniversary, we are committed to solving the world’s most pressing challenges by mobilizing private and public resources to create inclusive, equitable, and regenerative systems.
