Pyxera Global is excited to announce the appointment of Rajesh Varghese as its new Country Director for India. Rajesh has work experience across India, Singapore, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Varghese has worked with over 100 nonprofits to build capacity and understands how social sector organizations are a powerful way to ignite positive, systemic change. He has worked with several populations in India and Asia, from young people to low-income families, social entrepreneurs, and non-profit and corporate foundation leaders.

The Joint Initiative for Village Advancement (JIVA) is a holistic, demand-driven community development program co-created by the John Deere Foundation, Pyxera Global, and the communities they serve in Rajasthan, India. Growing from a pilot project area of three villages to 24 villages, JIVA’s mission is to improve the livelihoods and resilience of Indian smallholder farmers—by investing in the farmers of today and tomorrow. Before COVID-19, Medtronic’s GIFs undertook projects in person, a key feature of the fellowship that encouraged relationship-building among the employees and the host organization. However, the pandemic forced Medtronic Foundation to pivot and create virtual opportunities instead. This NCD project demonstrated how effectively a remote team could function and continue to work with a partner organization with impactful results.
