AI for Impact

Mobilizing artificial intelligence toward our world’s most pressing challenges

AI is a powerful tool, yet its potential to tackle society’s toughest challenges remains largely untapped. Meanwhile, nonprofits are stretched thin and expected to address urgent, complex problems with fewer resources than ever.

The very resource that could transform their impact is AI. The tools, knowledge, and innovation are here—the question is how to build the capacity to use them where they’re needed most.

We’re launching a new multi-company skills-based volunteering initiative that offers companies a way to engage meaningfully as both technology builders and trust builders.

About the Program

AI for Impact is a new 6-week, cross-company, virtual skills-based volunteering initiative.

Approximately 15–20 employees from multiple companies are matched with nonprofits to co-design practical, human-centered AI use cases—demystifying the technology and exploring responsible innovation in real-world community contexts.

Program Structure:
  • 2 weeks pre-engagement: orientation, team formation, project scoping
  • 4 weeks live engagement: team collaboration, solution development, stakeholder touchpoints
  • 3–4 hrs/week per participant, fully virtual
  • Some AI knowledge and experience are required
Key Dates:
  • Program Dates: January 20 – February 27, 2026
  • Commit by: December 1, 2025

Ideal Participants

Skilled professionals across:

  • Digital strategy, AI literacy, and data analysis
  • Marketing, communications, and user experience
  • Change management and training
  • IT, cybersecurity, and project management

Some AI knowledge and experience is required—along with adaptability, curiosity, and collaboration.

What do we mean by “Some AI knowledge required”? We’re looking for employees who have practical experience with AI in business settings, not advanced technical expertise. Ideal participants include:

  • Hands-on AI Tool Users: Marketing, sales, HR, or operations professionals using AI platforms like ChatGPT, Salesforce Einstein, or Copilot in daily workflows
  • Strategic AI Implementers: Project managers who’ve led AI adoption initiatives or change management specialists who’ve guided AI tool rollouts
  • AI-Adjacent Professionals: UX designers working on AI interfaces, communications professionals managing AI messaging, or risk specialists familiar with AI governance frameworks
  • AI-Curious Leaders: Department heads exploring AI applications, innovation managers researching use cases, or digital transformation leads incorporating AI strategies

What Success Looks Like?

Participants bring practical wisdom about how AI works in real organizational settings—exactly what nonprofits need for successful implementation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Program Design & Value

AI for Impact provides leadership development, community insights, and responsible innovation training. It’s a practical way to upskill employees, strengthen brand trust, and pressure-test AI ideas in real-world settings without the risk of a commercial pilot.

This is a structured, skills-based engagement with scoped deliverables, guided facilitation, and real-world relevance. Teams co-create solutions alongside nonprofits; this is strategic partnership, not casual support.

That’s part of the point. Many organizations need help assessing readiness, identifying potential risks, and building internal capacity before adopting new tools. These projects meet partners where they are.

Team Composition & Participation

Mid- to senior-level employees with strong collaboration skills, strategic thinking, and adaptability. Some AI knowledge is required—plus the ability to listen, communicate across functions, and work well on diverse teams.

Either. You can nominate a full cross-functional team or individuals to join mixed-company teams. Pyxera Global will match participants by skills, time zones, and project needs.

Around 3–4 hours per week over six weeks. This includes prep work, virtual team collaboration, and check-ins with the nonprofit partner.

Yes. All meetings, collaboration, and deliverables are coordinated virtually. This keeps it flexible, accessible, and scalable across regions and companies.

Perfect! We prioritize practical experience over formal credentials. Employees who use AI for content creation, data analysis, customer service, or process optimization bring exactly the real-world insights nonprofits need.

Absolutely. Cross-functional teams (ex. marketing + IT + operations) often create the most comprehensive solutions because they understand both technical possibilities and organizational realities.

Governance & Risk

Projects are designed with non-sensitive data, and deliverables focus on strategy, training, and readiness—not deploying tools. Pyxera Global works with each nonprofit to ensure that scopes are low-risk and within comfort zones.

Pyxera Global tracks both participant growth and nonprofit outcomes, including:

  • Increased AI readiness
  • Clarity on use cases and governance
  • Improved internal capacity
  • Employee learning and feedback
