Guillermo Areas has over 25 years of professional experience, working in Latin America at the intersection of government and business. During this time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility with renowned companies such as Bayer, DHL, and is currently with BMW Group as head of government and external affairs for Latin America and the Caribbean.
His management, strategic planning, and government relations experience make Mr. Areas a multifaceted professional with the expertise to identify opportunities and threats to the business and, most importantly, how to act upon them.
Guillermo holds an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, which he attended under an Organization of American States Academic Scholarship; a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Florida International University, and an associate’s degree in political science from Miami Dade College.
He is also a board member of The Trust for the Americas, the International Advisory Board of the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide (AIPG) and a member of the BMW Foundation, Responsible Leaders Network.
Guillermo is originally from Nicaragua and lives in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.
